Activate the Power Within You

Activate the Power Within You

There is an unseen, awesome, powerful force in you. Whether you were born into abject poverty, came into the world without a limb or lose all your riches in the course of living; you are a god in human form. You possess a divine ability to dominate your environment and create what you imagine. The power to reinvent your life, make wealth of immeasurable value or overcome any adversity lies in you. Man, is God’s Masterpiece, His most valuable creature!

The remarkable story of Jean-Dominique Bauby tells how indomitable and irrepressible the human spirit is, even when the physical body becomes useless. Tall, good looking and successful, Bauby was the glamorous editor-in-chief of French Elle Magazine. At 43, he was at the peak of his career before disasterstruck. Bauby suffered a massive stroke called “the locked-in syndrome” on the 8th of December 1995. This syndrome is a condition wherein the mental faculties remain intact but most of the body is paralyzed. When Bauby woke up after twenty one days in coma, he found his mouth, arms and legs-whole body, utterly paralyzed. He couldn’t talk or perform any basic function. The only part of his body that he could control was his left eye lid. He could only blink one eye!

As debilitating as this illness was, Bauby found a way to survive it for 2 years. Then he did something remarkable, so remarkable the whole world will remember for a long time. He wrote the book, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by blinking. Bauby composed and edited the book entirely in his head and dictated it, laboriously, one letter at a time, via 200,000 blinks of his left eye! He would blink when the right alphabet was dictated! 10 days after his memoir got published…. he died. But he didn’t give up the ghost until he finished his story. He wanted the whole world to knoow that man could do whatever he desires to do, even when his physical body deserts him.

“When there is a Will, there is a Way.”

There is a lot more to man than his physical ability can account for. The life force in him transcends his body mass, acquired skills, or conditions. Whatever physical inability or challenge you might be facing, your dreams can still come true.  You might not be as energetic as your peers or might have a condition you are battling, the power in you supersedes any medical prognosis or diagnosis! The power to overcome sickness, poverty, even death, lies in you.

Another person we’ll be talking about is Ping Fu. She was only 8 when the Chinese Cultural Revolution started in 1966. She and her 4 year old sister were separated from their parents by the ruthless Red Guard Soldiers. For the next decade, this young girl would live in a government-run down dormitory, being subjected to the most inhuman of treatments. She was brainwashed, abused, starved, made to witness the killing of her teachers and generally tortured. Her darkest moment came at age 10, when a group of boys chased, beat her unconscious and gang raped her!

Several times she thought of killing herself when the hardship seemed unbearable. The other girls at thecamp became mean, calling her a “broken shoe,”—a Chinese expression for a ruined woman! Ping’s life was a difficult one, but something kept her going, a deep desire to protect her younger sister. Ping knew if she died, her younger sister was doomed. So she decided no matter what, she would stay alive and make something tangible of their lives. She worked like a maniac at the factory job she was given, turnednice to all her tormentors at the camp and made do with whatever caame her way. She got some positive responses and things began to change, gradually, for the better. The Cultural Revolution killed over 1.5 million people in all, but Ping Fu found the power to stay alive.

Years later, the schools reopened and Ping began rebuilding her life as a student at Suzhou University. But adversity came knocking again. A few months before graduation, her senior thesis research on female infanticide in China’s countryside caught the attention of the national press. She was imprisoned and sentenced to exile. At age 25, just before graduating from college, her dreams were shattered, again. She flew to the United States with just $80 in her pocket; lonely, broken, knowing only 3 words of Englishin 1984. But she would not stay down, she had been through worse. Eventually, she earned a degree in Computer Science and in 1997, she launched a tech firm, Geomagic with her husband. By 2005, Geomagic had $30 million in revenues. She was named Inc. magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year, and today, Ping Fu sits on President Obama’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The Force within you is bigger than any challenge you might face! You are a Masterpiece, the creator’s most valuable creature! Your physical condition, pedigree, financial status or life crises change when you exercise your inner powers. Helen Keller was blind and deaf from 19 months. But that did not deter her from becoming everything she was meant to be. She became a prolific writer, Political activist and brilliant Lecturer who gained worldwide respect. The demand you put upon your inner powers, determines your destiny. Whatever we decide and determine to do, WE HAVE THE POWER TO ACCOMPLISH!

I ask you, what tough decisions do you need to make today? What are those lofty dreams that seem unachievable, those overwhelming challenges that undermine your true essence? Is it to make ends meet, cure an ailment, pass an exam or move to the next level of your life? There is an unseen, awesome, powerful force in you. It will help you cultivate resilience in the darkest of moments. It will make you victorious no matter what. Just acknowledge that it is there and make a demand on it.

We are the Master key to everything in this world. Inside us is power; the power to remote control everything around us, let’s begin to use it!

WISHES, DREAMS & GOALS

DREAMS & GOALS: LET YOUR DREAM BECOME THINGS… A lot of people desire for their wishes, dreams and goals to come to pass. They hear these three terms get used interchangeably, by Keynote Speakers, Seminar Facilitators, Life Coaches, even Preachers. What most people don’t know is that there are differences between wishes, dreams and goals. They have similarities but they are different all the same. The issue is, for one to move ahead in life, a clear understanding of his state of mind and correct definition of these concepts that govern his thoughts should be clear to him. This write up seeks to help you differentiate between wishes, dreams and goals and how to convert them to material substances. Fact 1: Your wishes, dreams and goals can come to pass. You only need understand what they are so that you convert them to what you desire. Meaning WISH: A wish is a hope, desire or longing for something; often something difficult to obtain or achieve

KEEPING GOALS IN FOCUS TILL RESULTS COME (1)

KEEPING GOALS IN FOCUS TILL RESULTS COME (1) Giving our goals a paramount place in our lives is non-negotiable. This is because goals are powerful creative tools by which we bring visions and dreams into physical reality. They help to make our dreams clearer and easily achievable.  But why is it that after setting goals a lot of us still don't achieve them? Why do New Year resolutions always fail? Why do we lose enthusiasm for our dreams after a while? How can we keep our goals in focus till we achieve them? The No 1 enemy of our dreams are the distractions and challenges of life that affect our minds. Different things compete for our attention and focus, and whatever we give our attention to, wins the day. From the adverts on the Television luring us to spend our savings to the aroma of Jollof rice and fried chicken tempting us when we are on a diet cutting down calories, or the death of a dearly loved one in the thick of an important project! WOMEN LEADERS WITH THE HEART OF GOLD   “If you are in a Leadership position, always remember that whether you are on the stage performing or behind the scenes directing, you are being watched; by someone who is seeking whom to follow.” Sharon Ayewale Let me tell you about an experience I had not too long ago.
